Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon Training Week 11 and 12

Week 11

STEPHIE’S TRAINING

Day 1 – Tuesday August 5, 2014: Tempo Run 6.2K (~32:00) – Ran half of this with my dad and the other half on my own.  I’m so impressed with his progress, this was the first time he ran a 3K course!  Hopefully he can run a 5K race soon :)

Day 2 – Wednesday August 6, 2014: Hills 9.54K (56:19 ) – Running Room Day!  Hills Day (x 5)!  First time running together with Em…

Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon Training Week 9 and 10

Week 9

STEPHIE’S TRAINING

Day 1 – Tuesday July 22, 2014: Tempo Run 5K (26:38) – A routine run along a familiar route with an average 5:20 pace.  This was an enjoyable pace – although I was pushing my body to go faster than race pace, I wasn’t gasping for air at the end nor did I have the urge to stop running.

Day 2 – Wednesday July 23, 2014: Read about my 5K race here! – http://runivores.wordpres…

Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon Training Week 7 and 8

Week 7

STEPHIE’S TRAINING

Day 1 – Tuesday July 8, 2014: Tempo Run 5K (25:00) – I think 5K might be one of my favourite distances to run because (a) you can get an intense workout in under 30 mins (b) it’s relatively short if you’re training for a longer distance race (c) you can incorporate intervals of sprinting to get some speed workout in.  Goal is to eventually complete this in under 24…

I Didn’t Know I was Doing A Race Today - Run 4 the Kids 5K Recap

I Didn’t Know I was Doing A Race Today – Run 4 the Kids 5K Recap

Wednesday nights this summer usually means Run Club at the Running Room.  But on this particular night, crowds of runners with race bibs proudly pinned to their clothes filled the store.  If I had paid more attention to the weekly announcements made before every run in the past few weeks, I would’ve realized by now that tonight was the “Run 4 the Kids – 3K & 5K Run or Walk” in support of the…

Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon Training Week 1 and 2

Week 2 of Marathon training is over and we’re pleased to say that it’s going really well!  We pretty much stayed on track with our schedule (which is a first in a long time) with no injuries thus far!  One thing’s for sure, we’ve never been more hungry – and we definitely find ourselves nibbling on snacks more often.  This is what we did last week:

In intervals of 10 minutes running, 1 minute…

The Marathon dream, becoming a reality

Aspiring Marathoners

We did it.

Made one of the biggest decisions of our lives.

We signed up for our first marathon.

We’ve been thinking about this for more than a year now; it’s always been a dream of ours to finish a marathon (or marathons to be more exact). Since we’re both graduating this year, we wanted to run our first marathon before the end of 2014 – it has been a difficult decision process as organizing…
